Reference Sources & Note Taking

Before collecting information on your country to answer the questions on your worksheet, write down the information you'll need to create your bibliography at the end of the week. This means the name of the book, title of the section/article you used, publisher and date. At the end of the period, remember to write down the pages you used. You will need slightly different information for the web sites you use.

Write down the name of the country.

What kind of map will you use to find physical features of your country?

How will you find information about the country's religions, ethnic groups, population density, etc? What about languages?

Some questions ask you to make inferences about the languages in the country. This means you might not be able to find a direct answer in the books. You will need to use the information you learn to hypothesize about the country.

You will also need to find information about the government and economy of the country.

How do political maps and geographic/terrain maps differ?

Don't forget about your country's flag! You will find country flags in different sections in different resources.
